Just perfect for our week's three generation girl's holiday stay. Everything we could wish for and more! Clean, comfortable, beautiful. So much to do in the area, or you could just chill out without leaving Rakhi Retreat at all. Nearby grocery store, tavern, chemist, etc. Would love to go back and will definitely want to go to Rakhi Retreat. The Billabong in full flower with white and lilac lilies, resident wallabies, outdoor or indoor living .... perfect!

"Rakhi Retreat is a gorgeous home set on a secluded property. We really enjoyed our time there, and even went for a swim and kayak. The kitchen is impressive, and meant for cooking in (there's no microwave - not a place to just "heat up" a meal), and it's an extremely short drive to Humpty Doo's central village ( I can definitely recommend Humpty Doo Tavern as an excellent, family friendly place for a meal). We found Rakhi was an excellent base for our travels, and relatively easy to get to places like Litchfield National Park and the Territory Wildlife Park. Alex, the property manager, made us feel welcome on arrival and had plenty of local knowledge to share and gave us some excellent recommendations. I would definitely recommend it to nature lovers and people looking to get away from the city, but still wanting be close to all amenities, which Humpty Doo provides."

We were starring in the movie Ten Canoes...
"We loved our stay at Rakhi. It was an utterly unique experience to stay in the bush so close to Darwin (and just a couple of minutes drive from the amenities of Humpty Doo). We felt like we were starring in the movie Ten Canoes as we canoed through the paperbark lagoon, the bird life was spectacular, and there were lots of lovely touches ( flowers from the garden, coffee beans and machine, bottle of wine in the fridge). We picnicked on the lawn and watched the sun set through the trees over the lagoon. The kids absolutely loved it - in addition to canoeing, we went bird watching, frog catching and yabby hunting. Thanks for an unforgettable experience!"

Soul soothing. A great escape.
I celebrated my 40th birthday at Rakhi retreat with my family and a few friends. It was perfect. The house is fresh, beautiful, yet totally homey as well. The view from the master bedroom is lovely, and the kitchen (including coffee machine!) is awesome, particularly with the Bollywood bar opening out on the the rear Patio. Basically the house has everything you need but is not kitch or cluttered, rather stylish and relaxing. The highlight for me was the block and surrounds. The lake was full and the kids had a blast canoeing and swimming in the lake. I enjoyed just strolling around as the bush here is gorgeous. Heaps of paperbarks in flower at this time of year. We even saw a Jabiru or two. We had plans to go day tripping over the weekend but felt so relaxed that we decided to stay put.

A lovely retreat in the bush.
My family and I were met by the owner, Rod, who handed us a very welcome drink. He happened to be at the property working on the grounds, a friendly fellow with a passion for the bush. Before he left, Rod showed us how to fill up the outdoor spa tub, what a terrific way to cool down! The back veranda of the big house faced onto a sunset over the swampland. With some big rains on Saturday night, the dam started filling up and we got to see some great bird life. Rod had even started building a “bird hide” on the ridge. In the house, I very much enjoyed cooking in the pretty stunning hardwood and slate kitchen. I found everything I needed, but the owners are still equipping the kitchen. I believe we were one of the first guests. The open living room had a wooden floor and a high ceiling that made me want to do yoga or dancing and there is a lovely didgeridoo which I enjoyed playing. The beds were comfortable and we slept well with the fans; we didn’t bother to turn the aircon on.
